As a new type of environmentally friendly and efficient adhesive, solvent-free adhesives have demonstrated their unique advantages in many fields. The following are several of its significant advantages:
Environmentally friendly and pollution-free:
Solvent-free adhesives do not contain organic solvents, so they will not volatilize VOCs (volatile organic compounds) during use, nor will they produce irritating odors.
It solves the problem of residual solvents in packaging, eliminates the erosion of organic solvents on printing inks, and is beneficial to environmental protection.
Energy saving and consumption reduction:
Solvent-free composite equipment does not require a drying tunnel, thereby reducing energy consumption.
In the later aging process, the aging temperature of solvent-free composite is basically the same as that of dry composite, so the energy consumption is relatively close.
High safety:
Since it does not contain organic solvents, solvent-free adhesives do not have the hidden dangers of fire and explosion during production, transportation, storage and use.
It does not require explosion-proof and warming measures, nor does it require a warehouse specifically for storing solvents, and it does not harm the health of operators.
Efficient and fast:
The speed of solvent-free adhesive lamination is generally 250-350 m/min, and can even reach 400-500 m/min, which is much higher than solvent-based and water-based adhesives.
Low cost:
Assuming that the annual usage of solvent-free adhesive is 20,000 tons, the usage of solvent-based adhesive is 33,333 tons (calculated based on different average glue application amounts). This shows that the use of solvent-free lamination process can greatly reduce the amount of adhesive used.
In terms of coating cost per unit area, solvent-free adhesive is also lower than solvent-based and water-based adhesives.
High initial adhesion:
Solvent-free adhesive has a significant advantage in initial shear strength, making it possible to cut and ship immediately without aging, which helps to shorten the shipping time, meet customer needs and improve capital utilization.
Small coating amount:
The coating amount of solvent-free adhesive is generally between 0.8-2.5g/m², which shows its cost advantage compared with the coating amount of solvent-based adhesive (2.0-4.5g/m²).
Solvent-free adhesives are gradually becoming the adhesive of choice in many industries due to their significant advantages such as environmental protection, energy saving, safety, high efficiency and low cost, providing strong support for future sustainable development.
